The discussion includes the likely influence on such weapons of Viking contacts with a variety of warrior cultures around Europe. The analysis shows a strong and welcome emphasis on the practical value of the different weapon types, backed by lots of photographs and illustrations. Well recommended as a superbly readable introduction to the topic.
