The release of another box set is a perfect excuse for a rereading binge! What was apparent to me in Season Four was Channon’s growth, and how he’s becoming his own man—still very much Jack’s boy, but becoming more sure of himself and his place in the world. And that delights Jack. Their relationship is such a joy to experience—and re-experience; every year or so, I go back to the beginning and remind myself how it all started. From that first meeting in Jack’s backyard to the events of Episode 36, this series continues to be one of my favorites.Since I read each episode in KU as soon as it’s released, I’ve included those reviews here.Episode 31, Size MattersBack, and better than everYaaaaas! The anticipation of Season Four nearly killed me, but the wait was worth it. This was absolutely delicious! Channon has grown up so fine, and I loved seeing Jack put him in his place. Plus a bit of Tig, and a new visitor! Such a perfect way to start the new season!Episode 32, Talking It OutHow can this keep getting better each time?Wow, what an episode this was. I loved everything about it! But I am not going to give anything away, so you’re just going to have to read it for yourself. It was tense and soaring and so damn poignant, I think I need to read it again, right now.Episode 33, Under PressureGrab the KleenexWow. Just wow. Usually, I get through at least half an episode without getting teary-eyed, but this one...whew. From beginning to end! So you’ve been warned. A total roller coaster of a ride, but a truly beautiful episode. I can’t wait for the eventual fallout.Episode 34, Opening UpGah! It keeps getting better!I loved this episode! And the title sums it up perfectly. The relationship between Jack and Channon continues to broaden and deepen, and seeing it unfold here was amazing. I am so proud of Channon for what he did here, and of Jack, too. (I am being vague on purpose because it’s for you to experience, not for me to spoil.) There are so many good moments that I’ve already read it twice!Episode 35, Center of AttentionFinally!I’ve been waiting (for what feels like forever) for a particular event to occur in Jack and Channon’s life together, and am thrilled that it has finally arrived in this latest installment. I don’t want to be all spoilery, so you’ll just have to read it for yourself, and enjoy its absolute deliciousness!Episode 36, AlwaysWow! What a way to end the season!The previous episode featured something I’d been hoping to see, and this episode’s the same. And it happened in a way that was so perfectly Jack and Channon. From the very first episode to this one, it has been such a delight to watch both men grow into themselves and their relationship together. A truly exceptional series that just keeps getting better!(Full disclosure: I am the same person listed on the copyright page. The author gives me far too much credit; I read the final draft and pointed out some non-American turns of phrase and the like. But I’ve been a fan of the series for years, and couldn’t help but leave a review for this episode, as I’ve done for many in the past.)
